From our Collections...
Our member here is displaying a collection of postcards, an indication that our Society welcomes postcard collectors as well as stamp collectors. As well as our philatelic competitions we hold a postcard competition annually, and this exhibit was the winner in 2019.
Our annual competitions, other than the single sheet competition, require the member to display a 9 sheet frame of stamps, and the same applies to the postcard competition.
Here the display relates to the University of Cambridge. It starts with a card showing the arms of all the colleges in existence prior to the 20th century. It continues with cards showing King's, Trinity, St John's, and Emmanuel Colleges, in some cases including both internal and external views. Naturally, in a display limited to 9 sheets, it's not possible to include cards of all 31 colleges!
